Welcome to Broadwater Down Primary School
We are a small school, situated on the south side of Tunbridge Wells, which prides itself on treating children and families as individuals. We believe that every child matters and we provide quality care for everyone. We take the time to understand you and your family and place great emphasis on pastoral care.
Ofsted reported, "The school's promotion of pupils' spiritual, moral, social and cultural development helps pupils to behave well, respect others and develop a sense of mutual responsibility ....... Underpinning the pupils' good behaviour and attitudes is the effective pastoral care shown to pupils. They appreciate that adults are approachable and help them through difficult times." (Ofsted 2011)
We are very proud of our school environment which includes raised bed allotments and a greenhouse near the entrance to our school; two hard-standing playgrounds; extensive playing fields; our own woodland including a recently rejuvenated outdoor classroom; a pond area and wooden play area. The school shares its site with a Sure Start Children's Centre.
Pupils at Broadwater Down are enthusiastic about taking care of their school environment, particularly the chickens! Those children in our Breakfast Club enjoy eating the eggs produced. Each class has a raised bed in our allotments which is planted in crop rotation so that the children can see how different types of vegetables and fruit grow. The harvest is used by our school cooks to supplement the excellent school lunches prepared in our state of the art kitchen.
We hope this website gives you an insight into life at Broadwater Down and look forward to welcoming you to our school at the earliest opportunity.
